Cloud Integration The Priority As IBM and Salesforce Expand Partnership

IBM and Salesforce have expanded their strategic partnership by bringing together IBM Cloud and Watson services with Salesforce Quip and the Salesforce Cloud Einstein service to enable companies to connect with their customers and collaborate more effectively with deeper insights.

The expanded partnership also led Salesforce to name IBM as the preferred provider of cloud services, while IBM named Salesforce as its preferred customer engagement platform for sales and service.

In addition, IBM will build new IBM Watson Quip Live applications, bringing together the power of Watson and Quip. These custom-created interactive applications will be incorporated directly into any Quip document to increase the effectiveness of sales teams throughout the life cycle of an opportunity. With Quip's document creation and editing platform, customers can bring relevant content, for any project, to a centralized document, eliminating the need to switch between multiple windows and applications to perform their work.

Building on the first integration of IBM and Service Cloud, the companies will combine the power of IBM Watson and Service Cloud Einstein to offer new recommendations driven by artificial intelligence for the next best actions.

Now, with predictive analytics driven by artificial intelligence, companies can create personalized interactions, activated by the client, based on the last call or messaging chat they had, to help build stronger connections with their customers.

"Appointing IBM as the preferred provider of Salesforce cloud services demonstrates the power of IBM Cloud to help companies fundamentally change the way they do business," said Ginni Rometty, president and CEO of IBM.

"This expanded partnership is based on the combined power of Watson and Einstein to help companies make smarter business decisions."
